Free Online Class Schedule Clock
A classroom runs on a schedule — and a clock that knows that schedule runs the classroom. The Class Schedule Clock is designed for teachers, instructors, and schools who need more than a clock on the wall. Set up your full day of class periods, passing times, lunch, and dismissal, each with its own color, title, and alarm sound. The display updates automatically at every transition so students and teachers always know what period it is and what comes next.
Teachers have used our alarm clocks for over 20 years to structure their day. This clock is built specifically for them — with a classroom-appropriate look, a sample schedule to get started in seconds, and a saveable setup that reloads with one click each morning.
What It's Used For
Built for the rhythms of a school day — and any other structured environment that runs on a bell schedule:
- Full-day class schedules — Set alarms for every period, passing time, lunch, and dismissal. Each alarm changes the display color and clock title automatically — so the screen at the front of the room always reflects the current period without anyone touching it.
- Projected classroom display — The large, bold time display is designed to be read from the back of a room. Project it on a screen or display it on a monitor at the front of the class and it works like a dedicated classroom clock — one that knows your schedule.
- Bell and passing time alerts — Assign a bell sound to class-start alarms and a different tone to passing times. Students hear the transition before they see it. Set the alarm to cycle multiple times so it cuts through classroom noise.
- Lab and maker space sessions — Set timed work blocks with alarm transitions that signal cleanup, tool return, or group rotation. A looping sound through a cleanup period keeps the transition moving without repeated verbal reminders.
- Substitute teachers — Share your saved schedule link with a substitute and they open the identical clock — same periods, same bells, same colors — without any setup. The day runs the same way whether you're there or not.
- Training and workshop sessions — Structure a workshop, seminar, or training day the same way a school structures its schedule. Set alarms for each session block, break, and wrap-up, with a display that keeps attendees oriented throughout the day.
- Homeschool schedules — Build a structured school day at home with named subject blocks and transition alarms. Save the schedule as a link and reopen it each morning — the homeschool day starts on schedule with one click.
- Staff and faculty meetings — Set agenda item alarms with titles that reflect each agenda point. The display transitions keep the meeting on track without the chair having to watch the clock.
Class Schedule Clock Features
Everything a classroom clock needs — and nothing it doesn't:
- Load Example Schedule — New to the clock? Click Load Example Alarms in the Alarm Schedule to instantly populate a full sample school day:6 class periods, 5 passing times, lunch, and dismissal — each with colors, titles, and sounds already set. Experiment with the schedule, then click Delete All Alarms to clear it and build your own.
- 25 scheduled alarms — Enough for a full school day with room to spare. Each alarm has its own time, display color, clock title, alarm sound, repeat cycles, and volume — all independent of each other. A period start, a 5-minute warning, and a passing bell can each sound and look completely different.
- Color-coded period display — Assign a distinct color to each class period. The clock display shifts to that color when the period begins — a visual cue readable from anywhere in the room. Use contrasting colors for passing times and lunch to make transitions unmistakable.
- Period name on the clock — Each alarm can update the clock title — 1st Period, Lunch, Study Hall, Dismissal. The title displays prominently on screen so students always know the current period without asking.
- Next Alarm display — A line beneath the clock shows the time and title of the next upcoming alarm. If 3rd Period starts at 10:15, the display reads Next Alarm 10:15 AM 3rd Period — a quiet heads-up for teacher and students alike.
- Looping transition sounds — Set a passing time alarm sound to loop continuously until the next period begins by entering Loop for the cycle count. Useful for cleanup periods, hallway transitions, or any block where audio should run for the full duration rather than a single ring.
- Clean Up Alarms — Entered alarms out of order? Click Clean Up Alarms and the schedule sorts itself, removes blank entries, and keeps only the last of any duplicate times. The clock runs correctly with alarms in any order, but Clean Up keeps the schedule readable.
- Save and share your schedule — Click the create link icon to generate a link with your complete schedule encoded. Bookmark it and your class schedule clock is ready each morning with one click. Share the link with a co-teacher, a substitute, or another classroom running the same schedule.
- Works on any device — Runs in any modern browser across Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. Display it on a classroom computer, a wall-mounted screen, or a tablet propped at the front of the room.
Class Schedule Clock — Common Questions
How do I set up my class schedule?
Click the Alarms button under the clock to open the Alarm Schedule. For each period or transition, enter the start time, assign a display color, type the period name as the title, and choose a sound. If you want a quick starting point, click Load Example Alarms to see a fully populated sample school day — then adjust it to match your own schedule and save.
Can the clock show the current class period name?
Yes. Enter the period name — 2nd Period, Lunch, Advisory — in the Title field for each alarm. When that alarm fires the clock title updates automatically and stays displayed until the next alarm changes it. Students and teachers can see the current period at a glance without checking a paper schedule.
Can I share my schedule with a substitute teacher?
Yes — and this is one of the most practical uses of the save link. Configure your full schedule, click the create link icon, and copy the link. Email it to the substitute and they open the identical clock — same periods, same colors, same bells — without any setup required. The day runs on schedule whether you're there or not.
Can I set a warning alarm a few minutes before a period ends?
Yes. Add an alarm a few minutes before the period end time — a 5-minute warning bell is a common addition. Give it a distinct color and a softer sound to distinguish it from the full period-change bell. With 25 available alarm slots there's plenty of room for warning alarms alongside the main schedule.
Does the clock work on a projector or classroom screen?
Yes. The time display scales automatically to fill whatever browser window size you give it. Maximize the browser on a classroom computer connected to a projector or wall display and the clock fills the screen with a large, readable time display. The period name and next alarm display are sized to be legible from the back of the room.
Can I turn off the alarm sounds and just use color changes?
Yes. Alarm sounds are optional for each alarm in the schedule. Leave the sound field unset and the alarm triggers a color and title change only — a silent visual transition. Useful for low-disruption environments, testing situations, or any period where an audible bell would be inappropriate.
