Free Online 10 Minute Timer
Our 10-Minute Timer is setup to start with one click. Ten minutes is a workhorse interval. Long enough to make real progress, short enough to stay focused and on schedule. When ten minutes are up, the alarm sounds and you're done.
Timer123's timing engine counts down using elapsed time rather than interval loops, keeping your 10 minute timer on time even when your browser is busy.
What Can You Do in 10 Minutes?
Ten minutes is common interval in work, school, fitness, and home life:
- Stand-up meetings — The classic daily stand-up is meant to be short and focused. A visible 10 minute timer keeps the team and meeting on track.
- HIIT rest periods — High-Intensity Interval Training often calls for longer recovery windows between hard sets.
- Classroom activities — Timed writing exercises, group discussion windows, quiz segments, or individual reading time. Display full-screen so every student sees the countdown.
- Cooking checks — Checking roasting vegetables, stirring a sauce, or flipping something in the oven.
- Focused work sprints — When 25 minutes feels too long to commit, a 10 minute sprint gets you started.
- Power naps — Research suggests 10 minutes is close to the optimal length for a restorative nap without entering deep sleep. Set a gentle alarm and let the timer handle the rest.
- Kids' screen time limits — A countdown they can see is far more effective than a verbal warning. When the alarm sounds, time is up.
- Presentations and demos — Timed segments, Q&A windows, or keeping individual speakers to their allotted slot.
Customize Your 10 Minute Timer
Yoy have full control when you want it. Open the Settings to adjust:
- Loop — Set the timer to restart when it hits zero. Good for interval training, back-to-back work sprints, or a workflow built around repeated 10-minute cycles. No need to touch the screen between rounds.
- Keyboard shortcuts — Assign Start, Stop, and Reset to keys of your choice. Ideal for stand-up meetings where you want to start the timer without fussing with the mouse.
- Resize for projectors and shared screens — Use Fit Width or Fit Height to scale the time display across a monitor or projector. Combine with your browser's full-screen
mode (
F11) for a display readable from anywhere in the room. - Alarm sound and cycles — Choose from 50+ built-in sounds and tunes, or link to a MP3 sound file on the web. Set the alarm to ring multiple times so the end of a sprint or rest period is hard to miss.
- Timer title — Label each timer for context — "Stand-Up", "Sprint", "Rest", "Round 2". The title saves with your configuration so shared links arrive pre-labeled.
- Light and dark mode — Switch between light and dark display modes to suit your environment, whether that's a bright conference room or a dimly lit gym.
- Save and share your setup — Configure once, then save and copy the URL via the icon under the timer display. Share the link and your team loads your timer as you set it up.
10 Minute Timer — Common Questions
Does this timer work on phones and tablets?
Yes. The timer works on any modern browser across desktop, mobile, and tablet. The display scales to fit your screen size.
Will the alarm sound if I switch to another tab?
Yes — whether you minimize the browser window or place the timer on another tab, alarms should sound.
Can I use this for stand-up meetings?
Yes — it works well for that. Set a title like "Stand-Up", assign a keyboard shortcut to Start so you can kick it off without touching the mouse. Save and share the configured link so the same setup is ready every day.
How do I set it up for HIIT or interval training?
Enable Loop in the settings panel and the timer resets and restarts when it hits zero. Set Alarm repeat to ring the alarm more than once so the transition between work and rest periods is hard to miss — useful when you're mid-exercise and not watching the screen.
Can I use my own alarm sound?
Yes. Paste a link to a sound file accessible on the web into the alarm sound field. Make sure that the sound link points directly to an audio file (ending in .mp3, .wav, or .ogg) rather than to a web page, and that it starts with https:// — links starting with http:// are blocked by browsers for security reasons. Use the Try link to confirm the sound before you start timing.
How do I share this timer setup with my team?
Configure the timer — alarm, title, display, loop settings — then click the icon under the time display and copy the URL shown. Anyone who opens that link loads the timer just as you set it up.
